Creating some pillows with my new Silhouette Cameo

For Christmas I got a Silhouette Cameo.  I was so excited to use it!  I have been wanting to make two more Christmas pillows for my new chairs.  I realize it's January 2nd and it may seem a tad late to be making a snowflake and Santa pillow, but now I will be ready to go next year.  And, umm, I don't actually take down my Christmas decorations until Super Bowl Sunday so I can enjoy them for a couple of weeks.  Yay to Christmas in January!

I was hoping to just cut my designs, iron them on, and do some simple stitching.  However, our local JoAnn Fabric store was out of wool felt and I didn't want to use vinyl. So, I bought a linen fabric which I realized would unravel and be a mess if it wasn't machine appliqued. So, I popped in my Modern Family DVDs, poured some hot tea, and began to sew.  The trick was to take my time and go slow.

Pretty easy job on the Santa...

not so easy on the snowflake.

Look at all those crazy little stars! (Looks kind of neat on the back.)

As you can see, I had to do some major ironing.  I sewed some zippers on the back, inserted my pillow forms, and that was it.

I love the way they turned out.

  1. What a talented mama I have. I wish you would have taught me how to sew when I was seven... I got jipped!

  2. My paper whites are starting to root. Do I need to move them to a sunny window yet?

  3. Meg it seems you have forgotten about that adorable purple fleece skirt you made when you were about seven. I remember you modeling it in the county fair. So cute!

  4. Cindy I think I left my paper whites in a dark closet for about two weeks last year. However; from what I've read there doesn't seem to be any hard and fast rules about it. They probably will be fine either way.
